DJI Releases The Zenmuse X7DJI

“The World’s First Super 35 Digital Film Camera Optimized for Professional Aerial Cinematography”

Remember last week when we shared some leaked footage about DJI’s newest rumored release? It looks like we hit the nail right on the head with our guess of a new X7 camera, which was officially released last night.

Designed to work seamlessly with the DJI Inspire 2 drone, the Zenmuse X7 delivers superior image quality, interchangeable lenses, and a new DJI Cinema Color System for post-production.

Optimized for professional aerial cinematography, the X7 is the world’s first Super 35 digital film camera, capturing the highest image resolutions ever for an integrated drone camera. Featuring a 24 MP CMOS sensor rated at 14 stops of dynamic range preserves astonishing detail and offers both 6K CinemaDNG and 5.2K Apple ProRes with support for continuous RAW burst shooting at 20 fps and 24 MP stills.

“The Zenmuse X7 offers everything professional content creators need to make their aerial footage as stunning and vivid as they demand,” said Paul Pan, Senior Product Manager at DJI. “From the large Super 35 sensor to a new mount, lenses, and color system, the Zenmuse X7 gives cinematographers and professional photographers an unmatched set of tools that work seamlessly with the DJI Inspire 2 drone to capture high-quality footage that is easily integrated into projects shot with industry-leading handheld cameras.”

The X7 also introduces the DL-Mount, the world’s first integrated aerial lens mount that allows switching between four available prime lenses quickly. For seamless editing, a new DJI Cinema Color System (DCCS) preserves accurate colors for easier post-processing. These latest innovations take filmmakers to a whole new level, letting them capture scenes as they imagine them with the DJI Zenmuse X7.

DJI offers four prime lenses for the DL-Mount system, with focal lengths ranging from 16-50 mm (35 mm equivalent focal length: 24- 77 mm) and resolutions of up to 8K. Made of lightweight carbon fiber and designed by world-leading optics teams, the four lenses have been embedded with advanced technologies crafted specifically for the X7’s high-end image sensor.

The X7  is priced at $2,699 USD, and is scheduled to ship in early November 2017.
