Apple Deploys Security Team to Keep Campus Secure from DronesWe Talk UAV

Maybe you’ve seen that absolutely stunning drone footage of Apple’s new campus floating around the net. Well, it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that Apple is none too pleased with the drone pilot responsible for the epic capture. And according to an article found on We Talk UAV, they’re cracking down on it, in fact.

Duncan Sinfield, known for this beautiful drone videos, believes his days of taking video of Apple’s new campus are over if Apple’s recent press release regarding drones and security is to be believed.

Apple’s security team boasts that the drone footage has prompted them to develop a response that takes less than 10 minutes to locate a drone. Sinfield has had run-ins with Apple’s security teams in the past who have typically asked him to leave.

Writing about the experience, Sinfield said: “Security at Apple Park generally responds in two white Prius’s to my precise take-off locations in 10 minutes or less… As always, I respect all requests by Apple Security to land my drone and leave the area when asked to do so.”

Sinfield suspects that Apple is employing sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle detection technology such as that provided by company Dedrone. Dedrone’s sensors, including RF/ WiFi sensors, microphones, and cameras to collect data and interpret it. It can triangulate the drone’s path and use it to determine the pilot’s location.

When asked by publication Market Watch as to whether or not Apple was a current client of the company a spokesperson for Dedrone would neither confirm nor deny this.  Continue reading about how Apple is cracking down.
