Swiss company Flyability has a truly unique offering – a collision tolerant drone capable of inspecting dark, dangerous indoor spaces like mine shafts, box girders, or nuclear tanks. Now Flyability’s flagship product Elios will be more easily available to the U.S. market, as the company announces a partnership with Exelon, North America’s leading competitive energy provider.
Elios drones fly inside of a collision tolerant cage, which allows it to roll off of the sides of tight spaces. The technology marvel is the ability of the drone to stay steady within the cage, acquiring clear data. The ability to fly drone inspections inside nuclear facilities saves companies enormous amounts of time and money because they don’t have to shut down operations for an inspection – and most importantly, saves workers from exposure to dangerous radiation. After acquiring 15 Elios drones to equip each of its nuclear sites, the company has committed to help the industry adopt the Elios solution. It’s a vote of confidence in the Elios solution that should help drive up Flyability’s company profile.
The companies have announced that Exelon will become a reseller of Flyability Elios through it subsidiary AeroLabs. Exelon AeroLabs provides innovative software and data analysis solutions for energy asset inspections.
