An image of a possible X7 camera was spotted by another drone news website called Kanzhaji. The snapshot shows a video of what looks like an Inspire 2 with a brand new camera. DJI recently released a teaser trailer hinting towards a product release on October 11, 2017, so what DJI called the “next stage in cinematic vision” might very well be a new X7 camera.
By the looks of the screenshot, the X7 camera will be able to zoom. Being that the shots in the teaser trailer were scenes of varying distances, the new product will most likely be equipped with optical zoom. Since the size of the camera in the leaked snapshot is considerably larger than the X5 camera, then We Talk UAV’s speculation of a new Osmo handheld gimbal capable of using an X7 camera might be out of the picture. The new camera might just be for the Inspire 2 or other professional DJI compatible drones.
When the topic of the October 11th release was discussed on a popular drone forum called Phantom Pilots, a new user said that it was going to be an X7 camera. It was quickly disregarded since the member just joined and had no previous posts. This could have been a DJI representative posing as a new user, but then again it could have just been anyone. However, the new Phantom Pilot member also linked a X7 camera sketch back in November 2016, which surprisingly shares some similarities to the snapshot that Kanzhaji featured.
Again, these are merely just speculations based on the leaked image, so everyone still has to wait for the official release. Whatever DJI is keeping a secret will be unveiled at 5 p.m. PST on October 11, 2017.
