Recent news reports state that JetPack Aviation has raised about $2 million to fund the development of the Speeder’s first functional prototype. Investors include Draper Associates, Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn, YC, and Cathexis Ventures, as well as a group of angels.
The Speeder is a fully stabilized flying motorcycle vehicle. It’s smaller, faster, and easier to fly both pilot-controlled or fully autonomously. The aircraft has the capability of taking off and landing vertically. It features 20 minute flight times, max speeds of 150 MPH, and 360-degree collision avoidance technology. Unlike traditional vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircrafts and helicopters, the rotors are not exposed, making it safer and simpler to function.

The Speeder also features an innovative fueling system that reules the aircraft in under 5 minutes, dramatically reducing the time it takes to power up versus an electrical automobile.
